Adult Learning: Keys to Successful Employee Training

Overview

Have you ever sat through a boring lecture or slide show and wished it would just end? Or maybe you’ve been in a class where the information was either too basic or far too advanced? Teaching and learning in adulthood is both a science and an art form. This session provides an introduction to effective strategies related to the design, development, deployment, and evaluation of educational opportunities for the unique needs of adult learners.

Objectives

During this online workshop, we will explore best practices for the design, development, and evaluation of workplace training based on the unique needs of adult learners.

Participants Will

  • Describe current and emerging research on effective education and training practices for adult learners
  • Locate key frameworks used to design, develop, and evaluate learning events for adult learners
  • Identify actions, resources, and supports to enhance transfer-of-learning outcomes
  • Develop an action plan to help guide the design of a real-world educational opportunity for adult learners

Who Should Attend?

Professionals who are responsible for and/or assist with educational offerings for adults in workplace, community, and other settings. This session is a primer for those new to teaching and learning in adulthood or a refresher for those with experience.
