Managing and Motivating Multiple Generations

Overview

Many organizations utilize a multi-generational workforce. Diverse perspectives, motivations, attitudes, and needs have changed the dynamics of work. Five generations of workers can be found in the workplace: Traditionalists, Baby Boomers, Generation X, and Millennials. Generation Z is entering the workforce. Each generational cohort has different expectations and views of work. Insight into the differences among the group can help you better understand the needs and expectations of your colleagues in an age-diverse workforce.

  • Appreciate generational cohort differences as positive; understand the concerns and needs of each
  • Learn to leverage talent and capitalize on the workplace diversity to collaborate effectively
  • Understand managing, engaging, communicating with, and working on teams across generations
  • Develop strategies for communicating, coaching, and leading members of each group
